Barca medical statement on Fridolina Rolfo's injury

FC Barcelona confirmed that Fridolina Rolfö has an injury to the meniscus of her right knee. The Swedish player will have to undergo surgery, and on Friday, September 8, she will undergo an arthroscopy.

Rolfö had been dealing with these knee problems for some time, and after the World Cup, where she finished third with the Swedish national team, surgery was one of the possibilities. And finally, that's what happened.

The length of her absence will depend on the arthroscopy. After the operation, the Barcelona team will provide updates on her condition and the estimated time she will be out of action.

Except for Rolfö, Barcelona's head coach Jonatan Giráldez will be able to train with the complete squad on Wednesday.

Barcelona will have four training sessions before the start of the league, which will be next Sunday at 9 PM against Valencia at the Johan Cruyff Stadium -- if the match is not called off because of a strike.

Rolfö opens up: "Injury shows my mental toughness"

After a long ordeal of several months due to a meniscus injury, Fridolina Rolfö (Kungsbacka, Sweden, 11/24/) is back at %, ready to give everything to achieve success with her team, FC Barcelona. She shared with us how she got here and her feelings in a deep and rewarding chat with MD before facing Chelsea in Montjuïc.

First of all, how do you feel after your return?

I'm very happy. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. I'm really excited because now is the best part of the season. I dreamed of coming back and getting in the best shape possible and now I'm here and I feel great.

What has been the hardest of all?

I think it was being out of the team. When you are in the gym you feel more like an individual athlete. It was difficult for me to be alone. You are always with the team and there you have the fun part in training, the jokes, the people who motivate you, but now it was just me and my goal was not to win games but to lift more weights or become stronger and faster. It was another type of work that was new to me. This was the hardest part, doing things that I normally don't think are so fun.
