Ale Municipality

Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden

Ale Municipality (Ale kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Nödinge-Nol, more precisely in Alafors at 57°55′33″N12°5′1″E / °N °E / ;

Ale Municipality was created in , when the former municipalities of Nödinge, Skepplanda and Starrkärr were amalgamated. The new entity got its name from the old Ale Hundred, which had approximately the same territory.

It built one of the first indoor bandy arenas in Sweden (and subsequently in the world), which was the first in Götaland, located in Bohuslän.

Ale kommun

Ale kommun är en kommun i Västra Götalands län.[6] Kommunen omfattar huvuddelen av det tidigare Ale härad och har sitt namn efter detta. Som centralort anges den av Statistiska centralbyrån definierade tätorten Nödinge-Nol. Kommunhuset ligger i Alafors i centralortens nordligaste del, men viss kommunadministration är förlagd till Nödinge.[7][8]

Huvuddelen av befolkningen bor i de sex delvis sammanvuxna samhällena Surte, Bohus, Nödinge, Nol, Alafors och Älvängen.

Administrativ historik

Kommunens område motsvarar socknarna: Hålanda, Kilanda, Nödinge, Skepplanda och Starrkärr. I dessa socknar bildades vid kommunreformen landskommuner med motsvarande namn.

Vid kommunreformen bildades storkommunernaSkepplanda (av de tidigare kommunerna Hålanda och Skepplanda) och Starrkärr (av Kilanda och Starrkärr) medan Nödinge landskommun förblev oförändrad.

Ale kommun bildades i anslutning till kommunreformen av Nödinge, Starrkärrs och Skepplanda kommuner.[9]

Kommunen ingår sedan bildandet i Alingsås tingsrätts domsaga.[10]

Kommunen är namngiven efter Ale härad, som förutom socknarna i Ale även inkluderade Sankt Peder och Ale
